School Reopening 2020-2021

NHCS is operating under Plan B AA/BB schedule in all grades. Pre-K through grade 5 will transition to Plan A on Monday, March 8, 2021. Grades 6-12 will continue to operate under Plan B AA/BB schedule.

Under Plan A, all elementary students will have the option to choose full-time in-person learning or full-time remote learning. Schools will be contacting parents to verify the attendance option they are choosing for their student.

NHCS families should verify PowerSchool contact information is current to receive Connect 5 phone, email, and text notifications from their schools and the district.

PLAN B INFORMATION

School Arrival Traffic Patterns

Cars will continue to come around the circle in the morning to drop off students. Students should remain in their vehicle until a screener approaches them. Once scanned, students will be allowed to exit their vehicle and head to homeroom. BREAKFAST WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE MAIN LOBBY.
- 6th grade students will go through the lobby to the courtyard and enter through the 6th grade wing door.
- 7th grade students will come in the lobby and turn down the main hallway to get to the 7th grade wing.
- 8th grade students (unless getting breakfast) will use the outside 8th grade wing door. If getting breakfast, they will go to the main lobby, then go back outside the front door to use the outside 8th grade wing door.
Buses will continue to come to cafeteria side of the school. Students will remain on the bus and be called one by one to get screened before entering the buidling.

School Arrival Health Screening Procedures

Drop off begins no earlier than 7:55 a.m.
Bus Riders - Masks will be required before getting on the bus, one student per seat (siblings will be able to sit together). Students will have their temperature taken as they exit the bus and be asked a standard set of Covid questions before entering the school building.
Car Riders - Please have your mask on and the window rolled down where the student/students are sitting when the staff member approaches your car to take temperatures and ask Covid questions. For safety, please have students sitting on the passenger side if possible. Students who do not pass the screening will not be allowed to remain at school.
Walkers and bike riders will be screened on the front sidewalk prior to entering the building.
Upon entering the building all students will sanitize their hands at the designated location inside the door and report to their Homeroom.
All hallways are clearly marked with directional arrows and social distancing markings. Staff will be accessible to assist all students and assist with the flow of traffic in the building.

Visitors: Given it's proximity to the office and trying to manage any visitors that need to enter and exit our building, the front entrance traffic will move as follows- All individuals coming into the bulding will enter the building through the left hand door. This door is nearest to the doorbell and will allow for entry into the building without having to come in close proximity to another individual that may be leaving the front office. As visotors leave the front office, they will exit out the door directly to their left so as to minimize the opportunity to have to cross paths with another person entering or traveling through the lobby.

Transportation - Student Groupings

Prior to riding the bus, all parents must sign and submit the transportation attestation form indicating your child has been screened each morning before boarding the bus.
Students must wear masks at all times while on the bus.

Group AA: Last Names (A-K) on Mondays/Tuesdays beginning 10/12
Group BB: Last Names (L-Z) on Thursdays/Fridays beginning 10/15

Siblings were grouped by the oldest siblings last name. Carpooling requests were also honored. Bus route information can be accessed via the Edulog Parent Portal App once the bus arrangements have been made. They will also be published on the nhcs.net transportation page under Bus Routes.

Building Social Distancing Features/Expectations

Students must maintain a 6’ distance from each other.
Hallways will be marked with 6’ distancing signs to help students visualize spacing.
Classroom desks will be arranged to address social distancing.
Students will not share supplies with any student in their cohort.
Classes will take 2 teacher scheduled mask breaks throughout the day.
All meals will be eaten in the classroom.
Students are encouraged to bring their own water to school. Water fountains will not be available, but students will be able to refill their water bottle at the water filling stations throughout the building.
During Plan B, we will not be able to have visitors for lunch.
